Segregated water fountains, washrooms, etc, were legal in the US until 1964, and continued to be a thing for probably around a decade after that as people dragged their heels about actually complying with the new law.

I just read about “Racial segregation in the United States” on Wikipedia. Does signs like these still remain in places today?

I don’t believe there are still signs like this today, at least not in public areas (because, as you pointed out in other comments, that would be illegal under the Civil Rights Act). Every now and then there are stories about non-white people being asked to leave an establishment, but those have, thankfully, become pretty rare.

I’m not from the US. I knew about Apartheid in Africa and I knew about the Triangular trade. I know that being a POC in the US comes with problems, for lack of a better description, compared to being a white male. I did not know that black people were seperated by law until around 1968 (according to Wikipedia, that is when segregation was outlawed in full, as of Civil Rights Act of 1964, Voting Rights Act of 1965, and the Fair Housing Act of 1968 (but not in de facto, because people)).

As to my original question, I consider recent around the last five, perhaps ten years. I would imaging this picture being taken around 1970, before something like this (hopefully) would have been removed.

EDIT: I should add that I also knew about black people and white people not mixing back then, but not that it was also by law.

EDIT 2: Now that I think about it, this is depicted in Umbrella Academy.

There areodern pictures of these because some places have moved them to museums or left them up as a lesson of how bad things were within living memory.

women gyrating provocatively, and Bad Bunny shamelessly grabbing his crotch while dry-humping the air”

Oh no! Did Bad Bunny steal one of Michael Jackson’s signature moves? Did his dancers dance like Shakira or Jennifer Lopez? Has this guy ever seen a Superbowl halftime show?

It doesn’t matter. This is all just vice signaling. They just need to tell their base how much of a racist asshole they are. What actually happened, what they said, and what effect their actions could achieve aren’t the point.

This sounds like the same moral panic that made the rounds in the 1950s/60s over rock and roll. Or, more recently, the way the right was just queening out over Timberlake/Janet Jackson, lol.

Meanwhile, the de facto leader of their party is credibly accused of rape and having ties to a pedophile. Maybe they want to look at that instead of just reiterating moral panics of the past.

Sure, let’s investigate a televised performance. Meanwhile, his party is going to keep sticking its fingers in its ears and yelling, nah nah nah nah nah regarding the Epstein files.

They’ll protect sexually explicit content if it involves children. GOP => Guardians of Pedophiles

For you MAGAs playing at home, let’s check the scoreboard:

    • America First, no more foreign entanglements: That’s a No.

    • Epstein Files: Still waiting for the good stuff.

    • Lower prices on Day 1: It’s past Day 365, and prices are still rising, but it’s a Democrat Hoax.

    • Deport Criminals: Includes children, veterans, innocent people, and even citizens.

    • Make America Safer: Death Squads patrolling the streets and breaking out into spontaneous firing squads against innocent citizens.

So why are you still in? Is it the mind-boggling corruption? The Treason? The casual racism? The virtuosic incompetence? The manic middle of the night tweetstorms? The pants-shitting press conferences?

I’ll bet it’s the Pedophilia. The one thing MAGA can be counted on is to cover the crimes of pedophiles.

That’s why ALL MAGAs are Pedophiles.

I love all the people scrambling to come up with some reason other than racism that the halftime show was bad because literally everything else they’re criticizing also applies to every ither halftime show in the past 30 years

Plus that was wholesome AF for a halftime show. It preemptively hit on so many potential criticisms that racism or prudishness are about the only two reasons left to criticize it.

He was waving the pro-independence Puerto Rican flag (light blue) and Ricky Martin was singing a song about the shit that happened in Hawaii after they got statehood… Is that naughty? Mm I liked it.

(There was also a lot of twerking, but somehow I don’t think that’s the actual source of the complaints.)

Rep. Andy Ogles (R, Tenn.) posted on X on Monday evening a letter addressed to the House Energy and Commerce Committee in which he called for an immediate inquiry into the National Football League and broadcaster NBCUniversal over their “prior knowledge, review, and approval” of what he alleged to be “a performance dominated by sexually explicit lyrical themes and suggestive choreography.”

Oh yeah. Based on the phrasing… This is projection.

    Check this guy’s laptop.

Look, obviously Ricky Martin made you suddenly horny and you did not know why. He did that to everyone, sir. But it was not technically pornography, it was just the immense sexual magnetism of an unleashed man.
