So we’ve gone up from 4th Amendment violations to the 5th Amendment. Soon it’ll be 6th, and the 13th is a little shaky.

Your constitution is worthless when you have an executive branch that doesn’t care about it while having an overly loyal majority support of the legislative and judicative branch.

It also takes complicity from the “opposition” party. Even with the loyalty of the legislative and judicial branch their actions should be moderated by the balancing quality in the Democratic process of “turn around is fair play”.

Meaning that you don’t want to do anything that gives grounds for your opposition to copy if they were to get into power. The problem being that the DNC has shown itself to not have a spine, equating tit for tat politics as beneath their dignity.

        fuck right off.

There’s room for real discussion of the democrat’s failings. This in particular did not make it into that cup.

I get what you’re trying to do with constant vitriol aimed at dems around every corner. We’re still going to work to defeat the fascists with or without you.

There is no third party that’s going to win in 2028 or 2030. Ranked choice is great, but we’re still just working on continuing fptp for an election or two. We have immediate problems that need to be dealt with, and intentionally or unintentionally, you’re not helping.

If the Dems had control of the Supreme Court OR the Executive OR Congress, this wouldn’t be happening. They don’t. They hold some culpability for that, but they’re not directly responsible for every shitty thing the nazis do.

There’s room for real discussion of the democrat’s failings. This in particular did not make it into that cup.

Over two decades of thirdway politics has no complicity in creating the situation we find ourselves in?

get what you’re trying to do with constant vitriol aimed at dems around every corner. We’re still going to work to defeat the fascists with or without you.

Ohh yeah… Because one valid complaint is constant vitriol? You can fight that strawman instead of making a valid rebuttal if you want to.

The house willing to vote to fund ice is surely a sign of fighting fascist.

There is no third party that’s going to win in 2028 or 2030. Ranked choice is great, but we’re still just working on continuing fptp for an election or two. We have immediate problems that need to be dealt with, and intentionally or unintentionally, you’re not helping.

When did I say anything about voting for a third party? Who are you arguing with?

Making valid criticism against any party is important… Most importantly your own. The DNC isn’t going to move away from thirdway centrism unless they hear from it from their own voters.

If the Dems had control of the Supreme Court OR the Executive OR Congress, this wouldn’t be happening.

If dems supported progressive candidates instead of centerist they wouldn’t have lost the supreme court or the legislative branch…

They hold some culpability for that, but they’re not directly responsible for every shitty thing the nazis do.

Did I say they hold all the culpability…or are you just arguing against another strawman of your own making again?

Thirdway politics is the reason the Republican party feels emboldened enough to be fascist in the first place. When the common people can’t differentiate between the two parties because both sides are just looking out for the top tax bracket then they are going to only care about punishing scapegoats.

200 NGOs Oppose Biden’s Historic Expansion of ICE Detention System: “Detention should not be about politics.”

ICE records show Biden admin plans could give Trump a head start on deportations

President Biden Signs Anti-Immigrant Spending Bill Reaching Trump-Era Highs

Biden’s Emergency Funding Proposal Seeks $14 Billion for Immigration System From Congress

Tom Homan - Border Czar was originally appointed by Obama

Keep in mind, these democrat moves to bolster ICE were happening while the right was blatantly telegraphing their moves to immediately weaponize ICE once they took power. Project 2025 came out and promised to use ICE to plunder and abuse Americans. Biden and team then spent the next 4 years not only failing to prepare for Trump, but preemptively strengthening the mechanisms Trump would eventually use to carry out project 2025. The democrats are controlled opposition.

Sure, maybe we wouldnt be seeing this intense of immigration enforcement if Kamala were in charge or the dems had SCOTUS, but if she were, she’d be working behind the scenes to ensure the right had all the tools they needed when the time was right.

The democrats are controlled opposition and the American electoral system is kabuki theater. The fascist descent is the only logical conclusion to the American political experiment- which was predicated on the wholesale genocide of Native American Indians and quickly pivoted to enslaving an entire continent.

You realize what the only logical conclusion to your “pragmatic liberal utilitarianism” is, right? I give it 4 years before youre chiding leftists for not voting for dem candidate Ted Cruz as he campaigns against republican candidate Mecha Hitler. Youll still see nothing wrong with that. You will sell out the victims of American Imperialism to buy yourself 4 more years of political waffling - just as you did with Palestinians.

They were working for the people because the people (who voted for Trump) wanted immigration enforcement.

They were representing their people, maybe foolishly. They were making sure there was no valid reason to vote for Trump, thinking that the vote would go logically.

Instead the vote went to propaganda and memes.

              bate

I think you mean bait. Just trying to help.

Bait and bate are homonyms, sound the same but have different spelling and meanings.

              bate /bāt/ transitive verb

              1. To lessen the force or intensity of; moderate.
              2. To take away; subtract.
              3. To lessen by retrenching, deducting, or reducing; to abate; to beat down; to lower.

              bait /bāt/

              noun

              1. Food or other lure placed on a hook or in a trap and used in the taking of fish, birds, or other animals.
              2. Something, such as a worm, used for this purpose.
              3. An enticement, temptation, or provocation.

                I’ll digress…

If it might help you later on, it’s best not to make assumptions based entirely on someone’s unwillingness to argue with you online. It just ends up making you look like a fool. And we really don’t need that now when we’re supposed to be unified.

LOL, “debate bate”, this is a discussion forum. You’re insulting me for using such a forum to engage debate?

Let’s just be honest, you’re deflecting because you don’t want to answer my question.

And would you look at that! It comes with a bonus MAGA accusation! A two-fer!

Yes, your obvious deflection is akin to MAGA tactics, they do it all the time. You’re doing AGAIN, right here.

If it might help you later on, it’s best not to make assumptions based entirely on someone’s unwillingness to argue with you online. It just ends up making you look like a fool. And we really don’t need that now when we’re supposed to be unified.

Lol, you’re so full of shit, what a joke. I’m not making an assumption, your refusal to answer IS an answer. You feel free to encourage others to get themselves killed while doing NOTHING yourself.

Just some friendly advice: everyone can see what’s going on here. Pretending to be too high and mighty to engage in debate is a thin veneer for your clear unwillingess to answer a simple question.

Nobody asked me if I voted. They just assumed I didn’t because I said the Democrats ran a shitty campaign that failed to energize people. It doesn’t matter anyway, harris won my state by a huge margin.

You are defending the party that refuses to be popular in a country that chooses leaders based on popular elections. Think about that, while you think about how doing the same thing expecting different results is the definition of stupid, as you prepare to browbeat and yell down everyone for the next aristocratic corporate whore offering nothing but empty platitudes to a population in the face of republicans cheating.

You people have made our situation hopeless, unwilling to admit a mistake you are dragging us all into the abyss.

I’m not saying they can’t be better.

I’m saying people should vote as a civic duty and maybe shouldn’t be complete jackasses who sit at home and let fascism win. Two things can be true at once.

And I am saying that without getting popular opposition, and at this Point aggressive opposition with organization behind them, a group that knows how to build and run a political machine, then there is zero chance of rescuing the republic. You guys refuse to engage that point and bring it back to if only everybody believed harder and voted. Everybody went way out of their way to get Biden elected in the face of attempts to fix it for republicans, and he did absolutely God damn nothing with it. Then settled us with a doomed to fail candidate, and he was doomed to fail if he stayed in either.

I think it carries some rhetorical weight. ICE is a political paramilitary organisation and as it serves no legitimate civic or legal function outside of that purpose it’s entirely wrapped up IN the politics behind it and attempts to invoke some legitimacy through that. It is because of that political support from some of the populace that such a force can exist and do what it does without uniform discontent and disapproval from the population suffering under their activities. Those particular segments subscribing to those particular politics have, as part of the wider constellation of beliefs, admiration for and an idealistic appreciation of the traditional military and those who are or have been a part of it (as long as they’re quiet and don’t say anything inconvenient).

When even former or serving military veterans get victimised it does make it look at least a little bit worse to a wider range of people than it otherwise might. ICE supporters will certainly have ideological defences and rationalisations for this, they’ll surely rapidly disown military personnel who don’t toe the line and attempt to discredit them, but is at least a little bit inconvenient having to do this compared to just cheering on the oppression as part of a righteous attack on undesirable elements as any other victims will be considered.

So, if we ignore that 4th amendment violation and note how often this administration violated the 1st amendment, I will note that 1 + 5 + 6 + 13 = a 25th amendment solution.

You can’t argue that math! (Literally, it can’t be argued with!)

        Livid, or lucid?

Either way, there isn’t anyone in the executive with a spine, so the 25th is never going to happen, anyway.

The only way the fascist pedo will be removed is via impeachment and force, or on Jan 20, 2029, but again likely by force. And the only way impeachment would happen is if Dems get a majority in the House (could happen) and exceed 2/3 majority in the Senate which is unlikely to happen.

Not lucid, but no one who has the legal power to invoke it wants to threaten what they’re getting from him staying in position. It’s not just Trump; I’d say that he isn’t the real problem, just a symptom allowed to persist because of the rot elsewhere.

In my local jail, it can take up to a week to be able to call someone but typically more like 3 days. This is because the phones in the holding cells are often broken, so you need to wait until after bail is set and you go upstairs, and then they charge money to make the calls. Meaning, if you don’t have an account already set up, you’re going to have to wait until someone is willing to show you how to set it up. That’s just for regular criminal issues.

Believe it or not but most cops aren’t as virtuous as Stabler and don’t have a pretty blonde DA around to challenge them over what they would be willing to do to seek justice. And a “good” attorney can often work around that.

But also, that doesn’t change anything. From skimming the article, it sounds like he wasn’t being interrogated without a lawyer. He was just being left to languish in confinement. Which… is how the us legal system “works”.

This is less “ice are bad” and more “all cops are bastards”

Yeah not really though. They say that answering any question waives that request again. Like what is your name? If you don’t repeat the request for the lawyer it’s waived.

        And police lie.
