Hyundai Ionic 6 (sedan) or Ionic 5 (suv). I have the Ionic 6. It’s great! Even better than my old Model 3 because I can use Android Auto. AND I haven’t had the 6 reboot on me during highway driving.
(My Model 3 once rebooted while I was driving on the highway.)
I wish Hetzner didn’t require uploading my legal documents (they asked for my passport or ID) to verify my account. Otherwise, seems cool. I’m in the US.

I’m not sure if that’s the right usecase. Meshtastic seems to be for short-range, line-of-sight-ish communication. Apparently, you can set up repeaters to expand the coverage area, but it seems like buildings, trees, etc will dramatically affect the signal strength. (I think?)
walkie talkie
Yeah, I think so. I saw a video where someone called it “a walkie talkie, but for sending text messages”. People use these for going on remote hikes, hunting trips, or protests. Basically, any area where you can’t use a cellphone. They’re not a replacement for cellphones, they fill a different usecase.
What about connectivity? I’m currently using Tailscale cuz it’s so easy. Maybe I should look into WireGuard? Also, how does Headscale fit into this?
Does anyone have a good guide for installing Seafile? I tried installing it a few months ago, but it’s so damn complicated with load balancers behind load balancers and a bunch of services tied together.

The only port I need open is 443 for accessing Jellyfin and Immich. I can definitely block 22 from the public internet. And fuck it no automatic redirects from 80 to 443. TLS or bust.

The exact same thing is happening to my wife’s phone. We’re both on Pixel 8s, have the same VPN settings, but for some magic reason Tailscale breaks only her phone. She has to turn off Tailscale and reboot her phone to regain connectivity.
These shenanigans is why I’m considering just exposing things to the public internet. I’m using Tailscale on several device types and Tailscale adds friction to all of my devices (except Arch where everything always works).
I understand the friction is there for a good reason, but my family doesn’t. They just see that Jellyfin doesn’t work and that all of this is buggy and maybe they just should sign up for Netflix instead of dealing with all of these bugs.
I am kinda interested in WireGuard, but how does it work with multiple non-PC devices on different networks? Tailscale runs seamlessly on my Arch laptop, but Android, TVs, and streaming sticks have hiccups from time to time.
I have services that I want to share with my non-techie family. If a service stops working, they suck at debugging and fixing the issue on their own.
If a service falls in a server and no one is around to hear it, does it actually matter?
I had a Model 3 for several years. I didn’t find the quality that great. I actually was surprised how average/slightly shitty it was. The interior of my Kia Niro is way nicer than my Model 3 interior was. Everything feels way more premium on the Niro.
In terms of software, again, my Model 3 wasn’t that great. I constantly had problems with the screen bugging out. Sometimes I couldn’t adjust the air, sometimes ghost cars would appear around me while I was parked, the cars would be twitching out. The worst was when I was driving on a highway, going like 120km/h, and then the whole damn car decides to reboot. Luckily, I was able to continue driving, but the speedometer was gone, the air started blasting (and I couldn’t control it), the radio was stuck (I couldn’t control it).
Yes, the Tesla touchscreen was high res and responsive, but so are modern cars now. I have a Kia Niro with a fantastic screen, high res, responsive, and I can use Android Auto. The interior build quality is also way better than the Model 3 was. I also have an Hyundai Ionic 6, which also has a great screen, also allows Android Auto.
Both the Niro and the Ionic 6 have pretty comparable drive assist features too. Tesla may still be ahead, technically, but other car manufacturers have closed the gap significantly.
I don’t miss Tesla at all.
