Honestly I’m not sure, maybe halfway through Trump 1. Definitely before Trump’s third supreme court pick, but it’s been long enough now (and I was sheltered enough) that I can’t actually remember how bad the early years of his first presidency was. Definitely not as bad as this last year though.
I don’t think it’s fair to blame Democrats for not doing this 15 years ago, at least back then the Republicans were still pretending to follow the rules overall.
And following decent coding practices there shouldn’t be a ton of code there (not saying a small amount, just little enough that AI would be able to compete in volume in this amount of time), just because less is so often more.
