I don’t even doubt somebody will achieve net-energy positive fusion in the near future (not those startups, though). But that is still not enough to change anything in the energy market.

I mean, if it gets more money earmarked for fusion research I can’t really complain.
I can assure you that while billions of dollars will change hands, not one cent of it will go to actual useful research.
If they want to use fusion power for AI, more research is a hard requirement.
What they want to do is scam a bunch of public money and put it into their own pockets. No research required for that.
